Aside from learning first hand at home from his mother and grandmother, Cristiano grew up working in the kitchens of their family owned fine dining restaurants, with his father and grandfather as master chefs. These authentic culinary skills, of course, were passed down to him at a very young age. With his close proximity to the Adriatic Sea, Cristiano’s adventurous spirit lead him to pursue a career as a yacht chef. Venturing out on his own, Cristiano has worked on yachts of all shapes and sizes, all over the world. While specializing in authentic and fusion Italian, French, and Mediterranean Cuisines, Cristiano’s abilities in the galley are limitless. On these yachts, food, drinks, fuel, marina fees, and other operating costs are usually paid through an APA, or Advance Provisioning Allowance, which is typically collected before the charter and managed by the captain. Exumas vs Abacos: Which is better for a Bahamas yacht charter?

For a first Bahamas yacht charter, the Exumas are usually our first recommendation. Their 365 islands and cays offer extraordinary water clarity, deserted beaches, sandbars, protected anchorages, and famous stops including Big Major Cay, Staniel Cay, and the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. The Abacos offer a different experience, with more established island communities, picturesque settlements such as Hope Town, and an extensive network of marinas. If you want remote natural beauty, choose the Exumas. If you prefer more time around charming towns, marinas, and established island stops, the Abacos can be an excellent alternative.

Where should you start a Bahamas yacht charter?

Nassau and Paradise Island are the most common starting points for Bahamas yacht charters, particularly for itineraries heading south into the Exumas. They offer excellent international flight connections, major marinas, and one of the largest concentrations of charter yachts in the country. Some itineraries can instead begin around Staniel Cay or Great Exuma, allowing you to start farther into the Exumas, while Marsh Harbour is the natural gateway for an Abacos charter. The best embarkation point ultimately depends on your yacht, itinerary, and available charter dates.

Can you charter a yacht in the Bahamas during hurricane season?

Yes, but you need considerably more flexibility. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with the greatest tropical storm risk generally occurring later in the summer and early autumn. Catamaran vs motor yacht in the Bahamas: Which should you charter?

Both work extremely well, but catamarans have a particular advantage in the Bahamas because of their shallow draft. Much of the Exumas consists of shallow banks, sandbars, and protected anchorages, allowing suitable catamarans to get closer to beaches and explore areas that deeper-draft yachts may need to avoid. Motor yachts are the better choice if speed, luxury amenities, and covering greater distances are priorities. For relaxed island hopping and maximum access to shallow water, choose a catamaran. For faster cruising and a more traditional luxury yacht experience, choose a motor yacht.
